Fitting a Custom-Made Danmar Helmet
Danmar offers a wide variety of customizations to ensure the best possible fit and protection for each individual. Available options include custom sizing, faceguards and facebars, eyeglass relief areas, ear coverings, quick-release chinstraps, custom strapping systems, and more. Our team is here to help you navigate every option.
To order a custom helmet, you will need to take several head measurements. Use the sections below to identify which measurements apply to the customizations you need. For step-by-step instructions on taking the three basic helmet measurements — (A), (B), and (C) — please see below. Please note that all custom products are non-returnable.
| Pro Tip: When taking measurements, use a soft flexible measuring tape and have a second person assist if possible. Measurements taken alone are more likely to shift or misalign, especially around the back and top of the head. A precise fit makes all the difference in both comfort and protection. |
Faceguard & Facebars — Measurement (D)
Faceguards and facebars protect the face, nose, and teeth. These are available for Danmar Hard Shell Helmets only.
(D) — Measures the distance from the eyebrows to the chin. Place your measuring tape right between the eyebrows and bring it straight down to the bottom of the chin.
Eyeglass Relief Area — Measurement (E)
The eyeglass relief area prevents the helmet from rubbing against the ears. This option is ideal for eyeglass wearers and individuals with sensitive ears.
(E) — Measures the distance from the eyebrows to the top middle of the head. Place the measuring tape between and slightly above the eyebrows, bring it up and over the top of the head, and stop where it intersects with the ear-to-ear (C) measurement. Record this number.
Ear Coverings — Measurements (F), (G), and (H)
Ear coverings provide a comfortable fit while fully enclosing the ears. Three measurements are needed:
(F) — Ear height. Place the measuring tape at the top of the ear and measure down to the bottom of the ear.
(G) — Ear width. Place the measuring tape on one side of the ear and measure across to the other side.
(H) — Ear projection. Place the measuring tape against the back of the head close to the ear and measure the distance the ear extends outward from the head.
